Is it possible to host a vSphere plugin package (zip file) on a websphere webserver

Hello

Is it possible to host a vSphere plugin package (zip file) on a websphere webserver so that it can be accessed via an https url (and hence set as the extension url) during registering the extension programatically on the vCenter server? If yes, does the zip have to be package inside an ear/war?
