The web client is in as good all points inferior to the GUI. It is slow, often "hangs", cannot sort numbers, does not refresh in time....there are so many things to say about it, it's really a bad product.
Just some details
Sorting
It sorts the memory of VMs like this: 1024, 1024, 16000, 16000, 16384, 16384, 1960, 2048....
Complete bogus. The GUI sorts it right,
Refreshing
Power off a VM. Sometimes ti shows you its powered on for minutes while it is already powered off. You cannot edit the condif until you manually refresh.
Hangs
I just marked 25 VMS to migrate. Sometimes it works, sometimes it just shows a blue clock. Nothing happens. I have to move to another browser window, come back, reload the whole list and pray, Somtimes this works.
It always works at the first time in the GUI.
Slow
It is slow. Very slow compared to the GUI. Lists, Stats, whatever takes ages compared to the GUI.
Flash
Its done in Flash. Flash is dying since some years and it's done in Flash. Why not silverlight (that's ironic)?
Please either trash the web client or make it a useful, reliable, fast tool. The web client is absolute not worthy to be used with the really great VMWare.
So. why am I using the GUI? All of our VMs are on hardware level 10. I overtook the installation and have to live with it. I even heard now in a course that you should stay with hardware version 8 to avoid the web client. This is ridiculous...
