We have a web client plugin where certain views come from legacy HTML pages and we host it within an IFrame inside the Flex hierarchy(along the lines of what is described here - Finally Updated: Embedding HTML in a Flex application using an IFrame (Deitte.com))
We were running into an issue where these views would not get rendered correctly unless served securely and to workaround this, we started serving contents securely by enabling our web server to serve secure content. However, now we have a slightly different issue with certificates and hinting the browser to allow serving IFrames with HTML content securely. (Currently secure content through IFrames does not get rendered unless we open our secure URL in another browser window, let the browser throw a dialog to trust the content, click ok to accept and then reload the web-client)
Our question is as follows
1. Is this a known issue? Any known solutions for this?
2. This would make our lives real easy - Can IFrames pointing to unsecure content get rendered within the context of the web client? Can you give us some pointers here? Any knobs that we can tweak to make this happen?
3. Can we use a self signed certificate (if we have to continue serving secure contents ONLY within the IFrame)?
